Gina was born and raised in a suburb outside of Los Angeles, CA, and received both her Bachelor and Master degrees in Social Work from San Diego State University. She originally received her LCSW in San Diego, CA and worked at the Children's Services Bureau for several years before becoming an LCSW in Idaho where she had a private practice in Bonners Ferry. Gina then spent over five years working in an outpatient treatment program for substance abuse and mental health. She enjoys working with children and adults of all ages.
Gina utilizes the approaches of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Self Change, EMDR, Solution Focused Therapy, Relapse Prevention, as well as play interventions. She has extensive experience working with trauma and substance abuse and is certified to complete the GAIN substance abuse assessment. She is also certified in EMDR and Cognitive Self Change. Gina has been a group leader of Cognitive Self Change Groups and of Children's groups.
She is an Idaho State Clinical Supervisor and has supervised Master's level college students and LMSW's who are working towards becoming licensed as an LCSW. Gina has also volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate standing up for the best interest of a child who has been abused or neglected.
When asked about her practice philosophy, Gina responded, "I work with clients in a collaborative relationship to create lasting positive change.”
When not working, Gina enjoys spending time with family boating, hiking, kayaking, and exercising.
