Behavioral Health Services

​Kaniksu Community Health has been providing integrated, quality and comprehensive mental health and substance abuse treatment in Bonner and Boundary counties for over a decade.​

Our Integrated behavioral health program allows our medical and behavioral health teams to collaborate with each other and you or your family to address medical conditions and related behavioral health factors that affect health and well-being.

Substance Use Disorder Service (SUDS) Program
  • Outpatient treatment for all drug or alcohol disorders.
  • Specialized treatment for opioid use disorder, referred to as Opioid Based Outpatient Treatment (OBOT).
  • Individual and group therapy as well as collaboration with your in house primary care team.
What makes our SUDS program unique?
  • Broad, holistic treatment for the whole person - which allows us to treat the mental health issues concurrent with the addiction.

In-School Behavioral Health Program
In partnership with the Lake Pend Oreille School District and Boundary County School District, we provide free, onsite counseling services to students in all elementary, middle and high schools. This non-funded, successful program which has been active since 2013.

Language services are available.  Medically trained interpreters are available via phone to assist patients with their healthcare questions.

Kaniksu Community Health an FTCA Deemed facility.  This health center receives Health and Human Services (HHS) funding and has Federal Public Health Service (PHS) deemed status with respect to certain health or health related claims, including medical/dental/behavioral health malpractice claims, for itself and its covered individuals​.
The Federally Supported Health Centers Assistance Act of 1992 and 1995 granted medical malpractice liability protection through the Federal Tort Claims Act (FTCA) to HRSA-supported health centers. Under the Act, health centers are considered Federal employees and are immune from lawsuits, with the Federal government acting as their primary insurer.  More information is available here: http://www.bphc.hrsa.gov/ftca/about/index.html
